The North Riverside Public Library offers notary service free of charge to all patrons, regardless of residency or library card status.
Notaries are available during most business hours, but cannot be guaranteed. Patrons are encouraged to make an appointment to ensure that a notary will be available when they come to the Library. To request an appointment, call the Library at 708-447-0869.
A valid photo ID is required for all patrons seeking Notary Service. Because a Notary is confirming the authenticity of a signature, documents to be notarized must be signed in the presence of the Notary – no exceptions.
Please Bring:
- Your unsigned documents. Documents cannot have blanks, corrections or missing pages.
- A current state or federal ID with your photo and signature, such as a driver’s license or passport.
- You must bring your own witnesses, if required (Library staff cannot serve as witnesses).
Please Note:
- Notaries cannot give legal advice, nor advise or instruct on how to complete documents.
- Library notaries cannot notarize Cook County real estate documents or I-9 forms.
- Due to Illinois notary law, we are unable to certify copies.
- Library notaries cannot issue apostilles.
- Illinois law requires that a notary and the patron seeking notarization be able to communicate directly with each other. The Library notary is not permitted to make use of a translator.
